Amal Enan

Executive Director of the Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund

With a passion for knowledge and sustainable development, Amal obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cairo University with honors and went further to pursue a master’s degree in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics. After gaining infrastructure investment experience as an Associate Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation and being awarded the CFA charter, Amal took up the challenge of joining Egypt’s Ministry of Finance as an Economist at the Macro-Fiscal Policy Unit. At the Ministry of Finance, she had the opportunity to work on formulating reform policies, drafting the state budget, and negotiating with international organizations on matters that touch the lives of millions of Egyptians and address the nation’s most pressing challenges.

Amal has ambition and a drive to excel, with the aim of improving the lives of others. Through her work in the public sector, Amal was able to identify that the sector is shackled by underdeveloped organizational, managerial, and leadership resources, which encouraged her to pursue an MBA at Harvard University to tackle the country’s shortcomings from the core.

Upon graduating from Harvard Business School, Amal joined the EAEF as the Fund’s first employee, with a mission to realize the organization’s vision: building an investment model aimed at promoting financial inclusion, job creation, and private sector development in Egypt. Amal aspires to lead Egypt on a path of sustainable development that safeguards Egyptians’ rights and future generations’ right to a balanced life.
